How Ethereum Server Hosting Works

It’s simple…you provide the Ethereum server (ASIC Butterfly Server, ASIC TerraMiner Server, or other ASIC server to do the Ether mining and we will provide the power, hosting, colocation and connectivity.  We have hosting packages ranging from single server to full cabinet with 10amp to 90amps of power on either 110V or 208V power circuits.

Where do I get Ether Mining Servers?

You can find ASIC servers online in a variety of places, however we generally recommend that you stick with proven manufacturers such as Butterfly Labs.

How much power do I need?

Depending on the server you have the power requirements can vary significantly.  Generally speaking, 110 Watts of power = 1amp.  So if you have a 1100 Watt power supply on 110V power, you will need 10 Amps at full load, BUT you can not run the circuit at 100% load 24×7 or it will over heat and cause problems…so you have to factor this by 80% to keep things running at optimal performance. With this in mind, a 10Amp / 110V power circuit will handle about 900 Watts in an optimal setting.

Power Example:

If you have 2 x Cointerra Terraminer IV machines each with 2 x 1100 Watt power supplies (4400 total Watts at full power), you would need a single 30Amp / 208V power circuit so they can run at 100% capacity in an optimal environment.

This circuit would provide ~6300 Watts at full load and ~5100 Watts at optimal use.   We can provide up to 3 x 30Amp / 208V cirucits in a single cabinet, so in this scenario you could have up to 6 machines in a standard 42U cabinet.

How much cabinet space do I need?

Generally speaking a typical ASIC server is 5U, however this can also vary significantly depending the brand and model of the Ether mining server.   A standard full size locking Ethereum colocation cabinet is 42U.  So you can generally fit six 5U servers each with 2600W power supplies on dual 30Amp 240V power circuits in a single 42U cabinet.

With the Ethereum blockchain you can build smart contracts, that self-execute, and the contracts handle the enforcement, management, performance and payment. Ethereum enables developers to build and deploy decentralized applications, which are not controlled by any individual or central entity.

What is Ethereum & Ether?

Ethereum is an open-source, public, blockchain-based distributed computing platform featuring smart contract (scripting) functionality, which facilitates online contractual agreements. It provides a decentralized Turing-complete virtual machine, the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM), which can execute scripts using an international network of public nodes. Ethereum also provides a cryptocurrency token called “ether”, which can be transferred between accounts and used to compensate participant nodes for computations performed.
